QA Full Stack Tester
A front and back end tester for the QA team at a London trading venue. You'll test releases, upgrades and bespoke client projects across its trading systems, with front-end automation in Playwright and TypeScript. Cash equities testing experience matters here, and you'll lead testing on small projects, not just run scripts.
The work
You will sit in the QA team, reporting to the Head of QA, and work with development, product and operations as both a front-end and back-end tester. Every release, upgrade and bespoke project the exchange ships goes through this team before it reaches clients, so the standard is high. Part of your time goes on testing guidance and support for clients and third-party vendors. The role is London-based, three days a week in the office.
What you'll be doing
- Design and implement manual and automated test scripts and scenarios with the Head of QA, and check results against expected outcomes
- Test and validate front-end and back-end systems, automating front-end tests in Playwright with TypeScript
- Analyse change requirements and prepare test cases, data and expected results
- Scope and design tests, and monitor and report on testing of large systems
- Act as test lead on small projects, and own defect and issue management through to escalation
- Work with technical and business analysts on requirements and solution definition
- Help the team put strategic solutions in place, including test automation
What you'll need
Useful but not essential: ISEB or ISTQB Foundation, Docker and containers, Python for back-end and API testing, CI/CD integration, WebSocket or real-time application testing, market regulation and reporting rules, and derivatives, asset management or bonds.
- Hands-on Unix or Linux. The systems you test run on it, so this is not optional
- Relational databases and SQL
- Experience testing financial markets applications, including cash equities
- End-to-end test automation in Playwright with TypeScript, for web and desktop applications, plus automated report generation
- Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript for writing and maintaining test suites
- A track record testing complex software across the full project lifecycle
- A structured, methodical approach, close attention to detail and the judgement to spot problems before they land
What happens next
We start with a confidential conversation to walk through the team, the systems and how testing works there before anything moves forward.
If it is a fit, you will get a straight read on the process and the comp. If it is not, I will tell you that too.
