Modern Slavery Statement

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking all of which have in common the deprivation of a person's liberty by another to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.

Ocean Red has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships, and to operating effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in our supply chains.

Although Ocean Red is below the turnover threshold at which a statement is required under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we choose to publish this statement voluntarily, consistent with the spirit of the Act and the standards we hold ourselves to.

Our business

Ocean Red is the trading name of Ocean Red Partners Limited, a founder-led specialist recruitment firm working in the Trading Technology, Market Data & Infrastructure, and FinTech/RegTech sectors. As a recruitment business, our principal relationships are with the candidates we represent, the clients we place them with, and a small number of professional suppliers who support our operations.

Our commitment

As part of our contracting processes, we include specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory or trafficked labour, and against anyone being held in slavery or servitude, whether adults or children. We expect our clients, suppliers and other business partners to uphold the same standards and to hold their own suppliers to them in turn.

Scope to whom this statement applies

This statement applies to everyone working for Ocean Red or on our behalf in any capacity, including the founder and director, and any agents, contractors, consultants, third-party representatives and business partners we engage.

Due diligence

We recognise that some parts of recruitment supply chains carry a higher risk of modern slavery than others. Where we engage suppliers or intermediaries — for example, payment intermediaries or umbrella providers in connection with contract placements — we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that they have appropriate modern slavery policies and controls in place before working with them, and we keep those relationships under review.

Responsibility

As Founder and Director, Richard Twumasi has overall responsibility for ensuring Ocean Red meets its legal and ethical obligations in relation to modern slavery, for implementing this statement, and for keeping our practices under review to ensure they remain effective.

Effectiveness

To assess the effectiveness of the steps we take, we monitor:

  • Whether modern slavery prohibitions are included in our supplier and contractor arrangements
  • The proportion of relevant suppliers for whom we have reviewed modern slavery controls
  • Any reports of possible incidents of modern slavery

This statement has been approved by the Founder and Director of Ocean Red.
