Operations leadershipProduction supportLinuxSQLFIX

Operations leadership hire to take a competent first-line support team and make it excellent at a listed European exchange. You'll own release coordination, shift scheduling, incident management, and client relationships with tier-one banks, with genuine autonomy from day one. This is about shaping how the function runs, not inheriting a ticket queue.

The setup

There is a Head of Operations and an experienced second-line team above you, and a first-line team of sharp people a year or two into their careers who run the day to day: platform checks, market open, static data, client queries, rollouts. They are good. What is missing is someone with the time to shape how they handle clients and how the function actually runs. That is the gap you fill.

What you'll own

The Head of Operations and the second-line lead hand organisational work to you from day one. By six months you are running it. By twelve, they want you bringing them ideas about what the team should be doing differently.

  • Release coordination for the trading platform and the weekly platform calls
  • Shift scheduling across the 07:00 to 18:00 rota, with occasional evening and weekend cover
  • Monitoring and alerting decisions, and DR testing
  • Delegating project work and mentoring a first-line team that already respects good operational thinking

What you'll need

You do not need to be the deepest technical person in the room, the second-line team handles that. You do need to understand the business of running operations in a trading environment. The technical environment is Linux, FIX, SQL, Jira and Grafana, with Python and bash scripting in use across the wider team.

  • Led or mentored a support team in capital markets, an exchange, a trading venue, or trading technology
  • A real grasp of incident management, client communications, shift coordination, release work, and the rhythm of a trading day
  • Comfortable enough in Linux to follow the team when they are troubleshooting, and you have come across FIX before

Interview process

CV review, then a screening call with me, submission, a first-stage video interview, an onsite second stage, a final stage with senior stakeholders, and an offer.

If it is a fit, you will get a straight read on the process and the comp. If it is not, I will tell you that too.
