DevOps Engineer

The work

This is a step up for someone with a solid Linux background, or a DevOps engineer early in the role who wants to go deeper. You join a small, skilled team and are hands-on from day one, with real responsibility early and exposure to infrastructure most people at this stage never get near. The team wants someone who finds this genuinely interesting: the engineer who automates things at home to see if they can, and has opinions on how a pipeline should be structured.

What you'll be doing

• Build and automate on-prem infrastructure with Terraform, with a growing focus on Kubernetes and OpenShift
• Automate across containerised and on-prem environments with Ansible and Python
• Bring new technologies and workflows into production with the development and infrastructure teams, picking up container-native and GitOps patterns along the way
• Support build pipelines, CI/CD and developer tooling for internal teams
• Run Linux at scale: deployment, configuration management and operations across containerised and virtualised environments
• Take part in architecture discussions with views of your own, help plan capacity across Dev, QA, Test and Production, and keep the documentation current

What you'll need

Personal and self-directed projects count as much as formal experience. If you have built something interesting, bring it.

• A solid foundation in Linux administration, RHEL, CentOS or similar, run under real conditions
• Bash and Python, with Ansible or Terraform a strong plus
• Git and CI/CD basics, ideally GitLab
• Working networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, load balancing and firewalls
• Docker at least. Kubernetes or OpenShift is a plus, not a requirement
• Clear, pragmatic communication, written and spoken

Where it leads

Deep Kubernetes and OpenShift expertise across complex on-prem environments, GitOps with ArgoCD and Helm, configuration management at scale, and hands-on time with QuestDB, Elasticsearch, MySQL and the tooling around low-latency trading infrastructure. Plus a real understanding of financial market infrastructure, a niche that is technically demanding and commercially interesting.
